About Our School

Located at the corner of Bowman & Quinby Street in Wooster, Ohio Cornerstone Elementary was established in 1994. As one of the largest and most prominent buildings in Wooster it is easy to see that education is a priority within our community.

Education of students from K-12 has been taking place on this city block since 1869. Rebuilt in 1923 as Wooster High School and then renovated and repurposed as a K-6 building and then in 2012 became Wooster's largest PK-4 elementary school.

With its 2023–2025 strategic plan now complete, Wooster City Schools is developing a new strategic plan to guide the district’s decision-making and align goals around student success for the next three to five years.

The district is again partnering with the Impact Group, a firm specializing in strategic planning and community engagement for school districts, to support the strategic planning process. The process will focus on evaluating current practices, identifying future needs, and establishing clear, student-centered goals informed by community input. A comprehensive strategic plan provides direction and accountability while helping Wooster City Schools respond to changing educational, workforce, and community needs.

2025-2026 Assessment Dates

The Ohio State Tests measure progress on Ohio’s Learning Standards and help guide instruction. Test results are also part of Ohio’s State Report Card. It is very important that students are present on testing days. To help your child succeed, please make sure they get a good night’s sleep, have a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and start the day with plenty of encouragement and positivity.
